With so many cats, and with them all getting a mixture of wet and dry food, I feel like I spend a large portion of my day feeding cats, picking up cat bowls, and washing cat bowls. Anything that makes this easier is very welcome! There are pros and cons to the various materials used to make cat dishes, and preferences depend on priorities. This is our assortment of different types of cat dishes:
- & 6. Plastic Cat Dishes
- Plastic Free Feeder
- Stoneware Cat Plates
- Melamine Cat Dishes
- Stainless Steel Cat Bowl
Things that I find helpful with feeding wet food to many cats are: stackable dishes for easy storage, anything easy to clean, and bowls that limit mess. #1 addresses all these wants! I also want to make sure they are food safe and not likely to be leaching chemicals into the food, and you really can’t beat #5 high quality stainless steel for hygiene.
Whisker relief is also something I am starting to consider as well. Some cats find the feeling of their whiskers touching the edge of bowl overly stimulating. Oval/wide bowls, and shallow bowls/plates like #3 and #4 and are supposed to reduce this occurrence.
